Don Stevenson received his formal training in music York University where he received a bachelors in jazz performance and is currently working towards a masters in jazz studies. In 2007, he won the Oscar Peterson Scholarship for performance excellence in a jazz ensemble setting. He has studied privately with many accomplished musicians and teachers including guitarists: Tim Cummings, Roy Patterson, Lorne Lofsky and Juno award winning saxophonist Mike Murley, for composition. In addition to jazz, Don enjoys playing and teaching many musical styles including: Rock, Blues, Folk, Classical, Country and Pop. Teaching guitar since 1997, Don has been teaching at Yamaha for 12 years. Since 2010, he has been the course director for the Yamaha Summer Rock Band Program and he is currently the course liaison for Yamaha's Popular Music Courses. In addition to teaching guitar, Don has extensive performance experience in Toronto and his native Winnipeg.
